Cirencester Library is holding an event to celebrate a classic young adult novel.

An extract from the first book in Malorie Blackman's Noughts and Crosses series will be read in a special event next month.

There will also be related activities for children to enjoy at the event from 10.30-11.30am on Tuesday, April 16.

Children of any age are welcome to attend, although it will be most suitable for children aged nine and above

Blackman's dystopian series describes an alternative history where Africans made Europeans their slaves.

It has won numerous awards and twice been adapted for the stage.

Later this year, a television series based on the first book will be broadcast on the BBC.
