Members of Parliament are often told they need to clean up their act, but few take the phrase as literally as this.

Thornbury and Yate MP Luke Hall joined in with Thornbury Litterbusters' Big Spring Clean.

The volunteer group works to keep the town clean with regular litter picks, often tidying up after big events such as Thornbury Carnival.

Event organiser Kim Webber said: "There was an excellent turnout and we ended up with quite a pile of rubbish bags."

Luke Hall said: “It was great to catch up with the Thornbury Litterbusters and help out with their Big Spring Clean.

"The Litterbusters do a fantastic job in Thornbury and on behalf of the local community I thank them for their hard work and efforts.”

“Together we can continue working towards a greener South Gloucestershire, which is litter-free.”

The group's next Big Spring Clean event is on Saturday, April 6, meeting at 9.30am in the Rock Street Car Park.
