A primary school headteacher has paid tribute to a retiring member of staff, after she was employed for nearly 35 years.

Alexander Hosea Primary School is situated in Wickwar and many generations of people have passed through it.

A large number of those generations though would all know the same friendly face, that of catering assistant Sue Skralskis.

Sue had been at the school ever since she started in 1985.

She was even part of the team that remember the school's old site on the High Street in Wickwar.

The school made the move to the current site on Honeybourne Way in the 1990's.

Ms Debbie Williams is headteacher of the school and she informed the Gazette that Sue would be stepping down.

"Sue is a valued member of the school community and will be much missed by all," she said.

"We wish her all the very best as she starts the new chapter of her life."

Sue is well known in the community, having seen so many families pass through the school and she has always been loved by the pupils at the school.

The rest of the catering team at Alexander Hosea have all been a big part of the community, with Deb Thornbury and Sue working together for 17 years.

The third member of the team, Antonia Jater, attended the school as a student and then found herself working alongside Sue for many years.
