ECO-conscious pupils from Miserden Primary School decided that this year’s red nose day would be different, as they ditched the plastic noses in favour of painting on their own red noses.

On Friday, March 15 children donated money to have their own environmentally friendly noses painted on by parents, Claire Coles-Jones and Pavla Johnson, who volunteered on the day, ensuring that all money from the donation went to the charity.

Even new school cook, Claire Minchin, joined in with the fun.

The pupils’ endeavours raised £116 for the charity, including donations for painting noses, hands and faces and a cup cake sale at the end of the day.

The school also auctioned off the left over cakes to punters in The Carpenters Arms pub, Miserden, collecting an additional £30 for just 12 cupcakes from generous punters, bringing the total to £146.

Headteacher Lucie Mitchell said: “Thanks to all the wonderful children, parents and staff, Miserden Primary School decided to have a no plastics red nose day.

“A couple of dedicated parents painted red noses on all the children and several members of staff. I am so proud of our caring school for their dedication to the use of less plastic.”
