A volunteer group and several parish councils have banded together to fund a new piece of sports equipment for an Alveston school.
Friends of Marlwood School (FOMS), with support from Olveston, Alveston and Severn Beach & Piling parish councils, have funded a new table tennis table.
PE staff had identified the need for a new “match standard” table tennis table for its GCSE pupils.
Aust Parish Council has also sponsored an annual academic award at Marlwood for a number of years.
FOMS member Melinda Evans said: "A large proportion of the pupil population live in these four parish council areas. FOMS are very grateful for this strong community support as it helps towards our aim to make Marlwood a school where all pupils can thrive."
Councillors were able to see first hand the new table tennis table in action on a recent visit to Marlwood. Pupils Libby and Shauna Bennett, used one of the eight “up-cycled” digital SLR cameras donated by a member of the #WeareMarlwood alumni community to capture the visit.
