There is a chance to learn about one of the region's most historic landmarks at the next meeting of Thornbury Local History and Archaeology Society.

Meg Wise will be giving a talk entitled Ferocious Antelopes and Silvery Swans; Heraldry and Symbolism at Thornbury Castle.

Meg is a Trustee at Thornbury and District Museum and an author of a number of local history books and booklets.

Thornbury Castle was was once owned by Henry VIII who stayed there while on his honeymoon tour with second wife Anne Boleyn.

The meeting will take place on April 9 at 7.30pm in St. Mary's Church Hall, Eastbury Road, Thornbury.

Visitors are welcome, entrance is £2.50 for non-members.

The evening will include refreshments.
