A Thornbury pub is set to launch a special new beer.
The Butcher’s Hook on Thornbury High Street are brewing the India Pale Ale as part of a ‘tap takeover’ by Bristol brewers Moor Beer Co.
The 6.2 per cent beer is a collaboration between Moor and the pub’s own Tiley’s Brewery based at the Salutation Inn at Ham.
The beer is being brewed with a brand new English hop bred by hop merchants Charles Faram in Worcestershire. They are breeding new varieties of English hops to help rejuvenate the British hop growing industry and help it compete with American hops.
The hop is so new it doesn’t even have a commercial name yet and goes under the working name of CF185.
This is the first time it has been brewed with on a commercial scale.
The ‘tap takeover’ is being held from 5pm on April 12.
Eight cask ales and five keg beers will be available and there will also be live music from Henry Slim and his bluesy, New Orleans swing ensemble.
