A 65 year old Gloucestershire woman charged with murdering her own son has been found dead at home, it was revealed today.

Joy Liddell, of Sandyleaze, Longlevens, Gloucester, was on bail charged with killing her son Michael Liddell, 35, on Jan 31st this year and was scheduled for trial at Bristol Crown Court on July 29th.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire coroner Katie Skerrett said today that Mrs Liddell was found dead on Saturday, March 30.

He said a post mortem has yet to be carried out on her body to determine the cause of death. That is likely to be done within the next few days, he said.

There will only be an inquest into her death if it is found not to have been from natural causes, he added.

Mrs Liddell had been arrested shortly after the death of her son and was held for questioning before appearing at Cheltenham Magistrates court on Feb 4 where she was remanded in custody pending trial.

However, she was granted bail last month at a plea and trial preparation hearing at Bristol Crown court.
