A 40-year-old man that was charged with failing to stop for a police officer, being in possession of a knife and assault of a constable in uniform has pleaded not guilty in court.

Patrick Smyth, Hamble Close in Thornbury, appeared in Bristol Magistrate's Court on March 28, charged with three offences dated March 1.

Smyth is charged with failing to stop for a police officer on Thornbury High Street whilst driving a Volkswagen Passatt.

He also pleaded not guilty to being in possession of a stanley knife on Falcon Way, Bristol, that same day as well as assaulting a police officer.

Smyth was remanded on unconditional bail until June 11, where he will re-appear at Bristol Magistrate's Court.
