Children are celebrating after receiving over £1500 worth of free story books following a reading challenge set by the school.
Pupils at Raysfield Federation School in Chipping Sodbury took part in a sponsored reading challenge over a recent school holiday.
The challenge was to read as much as they could, with the money raised going towards new books for the school.
The final total raised by the children came to around £850.
Top readers and sponsorship earners were each rewarded with a small prize, with every student involved receiving a celebratory certificate.
In addition to the Sponsorship money raised, Usborne Books provided an extra boost to the funding.
This meant that the school had a total of £1510 to spend on books for students.
The money was used to good effect, with pupils at the infant school choosing a selection of reading, story books and the junior school spending the money on dictionaries, thesauruses, and topic books about Romans.
Lucy Shilcock, a representative of Usborne Books, said: "Well done to the children at Raysfield Schools for their reading efforts which have resulted in a huge amount of fantastic new books.
"We know that a love of reading begins at a young age and it is amazing to be able to provide lots of exciting and engaging resources for the children to use and enjoy for many years to come."
