A POPULAR pub in the heart of Stroud is reopening its doors today with a vibrant Latin American makeover – thanks to two Venezuelan sisters.

Stroud News and Journal:

The historic Greyhound Inn closed its doors to the pub last May, but following months of work reopened as Galgos - which is Spanish for Greyhound.

Sisters Angela and Oriana opened their popular shop at the top of Stroud High’s Street Made in Venezuela over a year ago, but have decided to follow their dream and open a new venue which will allow everyone to enjoy the vibrant colours, tastes, music and atmosphere of South America.

Stroud News and Journal:

Oriana explained that the team had been working hard for months, and couldn't wait to invite the town to see what they'd been up to.

"We've been redecorating since the beginning of the year," Oriana said. "But now it's time to welcome people in - we can't wait to give a warm Latin American welcome with everyone!"

Stroud News and Journal:

Initially the colourful bar will be serving a coffee, Latin American cocktails and a taster menu, but once their chef arrives on April 10 the full menu will be launched.

Stroud News and Journal:

"We'll be serving margaritas, caipirinhas, all of the classic drinks that we know everyone loves - but we'll also have some incredible rums - Venezuela is famous for it's rum," Oriana said.

Stroud News and Journal:

"Our chef is from Ecuador, he lives in London at the moment, but as soon as he came to Stroud he wanted to move here.

"The idea is to create a great vibe, where everyone can come and enjoy some Latin American good times - right in the heart of Stroud!"

Stroud News and Journal:

The interior of the pub has been completely transformed and is now decorated with bright colours and upcycled objects, as well as products from the sisters' former shop and will be for sale to diners, drinkers, or anyone who just fancies popping in to have a look around.

Stroud News and Journal:

Galgos, Gloucester Street, Stroud is open from Thursday until Sunday for brunch, lunch and supper.
