TWO determined schoolgirls have raised £500 for an animal charity after cycling 11 miles – and money is still coming in from sponsors.

Megan Jones, aged 11, and Keira Wayman, 10, who attend Cam Hopton Primary School, wanted to raise money to help their local animal shelter, Teckels, so they decided to do an 11-mile bike ride in the Easter holidays.

With the help of their parents and local community they set about getting sponsors and also had a donations box at school.

Thankfully the rain held off and they completed their bike ride in just one-and-a-half hours on Monday, April 8.

A school spokesman said: "Although money is still being collected, it looks like the girls will have raised about £500 for the charity."
