A SMALL but enthusiastic group of members of Cirencester Mothers’ Union met in Cirencester to take part in the Great British Spring Clean.

Members spent an hour and a half litter-picking on Tuesday, April 23 in the large car park behind the garage on the Burford Road adjacent to the Premier Inn and the Burger King.

In addition to the usual haul of cans, plastic bottles, sandwich wrappers, crisp packets, they also collected three stainless steel ‘Thermos-type’ flasks, a car exhaust silencer, 36 glass bottles (35 of which were alcohol), a vehicle windscreen surround, a large piece of laminate flooring, a 10 litre white plastic container, 24 helium cartridges, a caravan jack and a mug.

Unfortunately, rain meant that the planned second day of litter picking was called off, but this is only the first of many.
