THE streets of Tetbury will come alive this May Day with the unique Wacky Races event.
The Tetbury Lions annual Soapbox Derby on Monday, May 6 draws thousands of spectators as well as many competitors keen to take part in the junior and adult races in all manner of creative carts.
Qualifying runs start at 10.30am from The Chipping, and racing starts at 1.05pm, following a blessing of the course by Reverend Poppy Hughes at 1pm.
Spectators have a chance to inspect the racing wagons and meet the drivers from 9.30am.
The event has a family fun feel, with face painting, bouncy castles and Colin Dymond, a comedy magician, and Albert the Lion ready to entertain children. There will also be food and drink to buy.
Prizes are awarded at Millennium Green at 3pm.
