New play equipment is coming to a popular park in Yate.

Residents around Shire Way will be the beneficiaries as construction work is expected to start on Woodchester Park in the near future.

Woodchester Park lies in the centre of the Shire Way estate and currently comrpises of a toddler, junior and recreational areas.

Now though the planned work will see the toddler play area received a multi-play pit, swings and selection of other things.

The recreational area will also have a combination goal and basketball hoops installed.

The plans have been drawn up after Dodington Parish Council decided to dedicate funds to the area.

Most of the project is being funded by Section 106 monies from South Gloucestershire Council.

This money is contributions from developers of nearby building sites, in this case from the development on Kelston Close.

A spokesperson for Dodington Parish Council said: "We thank the residents who helped us last year by completing our consultation form about improvements to the play area.

"We hope that children and young people will enjoy the updates to the play area."
