There is a large emergency service presence in the centre of Yate after an incident this morning.
Police cars and an ambulance closed the Lidl end of Stanshawes Crescent as they responded to an emergency involving a man.
A witness reported that they came across a group of people surrounding a person lying on the floor in the middle of the road.
A police spokesman confirmed they were called to reports of man with a head injury at about 10.25am.
The male pedestrian – believed to be in his 80s - had a head injury and has been taken to hospital. The injury is not believed to serious.
It is not yet clear how the man sustained his injury.
