A Yate pub his holding a charity Bikeathon to raise money for a charity tackling loneliness.

Lillian Memia, franchise owner of The Lawns, Church Road, will continue her charity cycling challenge at the pub on Saturday.

She has already ridden 213 kilometres on the island of Mallorca and so far raised £260.

All proceeds will go to the Marmalade Trust, a Bristol charity helping isolated people reconnect with society.

They hold Christmas Day lunches for those who would otherwise spend the day alone.

Lillian said: "On Christmas Day 2018 we had 20 people for lunch from the Trust and the charity paid 75 per cent of the bill and we managed to raise 25 per cent through bingo and quiz events.

This year we would like to pay 100 per cent of the bill for their Christmas day lunch. This means we need at least £1000 to cover another meal for 20 plus the cost of their travel to and from the pub."
