A Thornbury pub has been nominated for a community award.

The Swan has been shortlisted in the Community Hub Pub category at the Ei Group Awards for Excellence.

Ei owns more than 4,400 pubs across the country, with the Thornbury High Street pub one of six in the running for the award.

The award recognises publicans who make a real difference to the communities that they serve.

Landlord Sandra Davies has raised more than £100,000 for a variety of different charities.

She said: "“We’re delighted to be shortlisted, it is testament to all the hard work the team have put in over the past seven and a half years.”

The pubs will now be judged by a panel of experts from across the industry who will decide which will make the final three.

These will face a final round of judging which involves an interview with Pub Industry Expert, Phil Dixon.

They will then be invited to a gala awards ceremony in July where the winner will be announced.
