Thornbury firefighters are on the scene after a series of barns caught fire earlier this morning.

There is at least one crew at the incident at Upper Morton. They have been at the barn fire since around 4.30am.

A warning has been issued for traffic using the nearby Crossways Lane as there are hoses running along it.

On Facebook, the service said: "Our crews are currently dealing with a fire on a farm at Upper Morton, Thornbury.

"Please be aware that we have lots of hose running along the main Gloucester Road from Crossways Lane to the incident.

"Please be careful whilst traveling in the area this morning as you have to drive over over our hoses."

An official statement from Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Thornbury, Patchway, Southmead, Avonmouth, Kingswood, Temple and Portishead fire stations were called to a barn fire that was affecting six barns.

"On arrival, firefighters used two 45mm jets to extinguish the fire and managed to contain the fire to two barns used to store wood chippings.

"The cause is currently unknown."
