Residents and members of the public that had hoped to enjoy the views in a beauty spot in the area were left 'frustrated' with leftover litter.
At around 9am on Wednesday morning, a photo of the litter appeared on the Dursley Matters Facebook page.
It showed a huge pile of rubbish left in the picnic area at beauty spot Coaley Peak.
Amongst it were large plastic bags, bottles and cardboards.
The rubbish was left next to two dog waste bins.
The post in the group prompted angry comments, with some members of the public calling it 'disgraceful' and others describing it as 'completely disgusting'.
It is believed that the South Cotswold Ramblers Group cleared up the mess and removed it.
