Less than half the Cotswold district voted in yesterday's European elections, despite an increased turnout.

Cotswold District Council confirmed a turnout of 43.2 per cent.

The district has an electorate of 69,858, with 30,157 voting in yesterday's election for the south west and Gibraltar region.

Turnout in the district was up 5 per cent from the last European elections in 2014.

The count will take place on Sunday evening once voting has taken place in all EU countries.
