A THORNBURY Primary School held a memorial day to remember a pupil who died earlier this year.

Alba Kippen, who attended New Siblands School, died in March shortly before what would have been her third birthday.

The memorial was held at the school last Wednesday with Briony May, star of The Great British Bake Off, in attendance.

Teaching assistant Lucy Todd explained: "All pupils and staff wore something green because this was the colour Alba responded to the most so was thought to be her favourite.

"The whole day was filled with green activities."

This included biscuit icing with Briony as well as playing with green play dough.

Charlton Farm, part of Children’s Hospice South West, held a music session and there was also a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses.

A memorial bird table has been placed in the memorial garden and was unveiled on the day by Alba's parents. Westcoast Properties donated the table with Lee's Mend A Shoe providing the plaque.

Money raised from the day will be given to Jessie May and Rainbow Trust, two of the charities who supported Alba during her life and continue to support her family.
