People in Dursley have come together to criticise a group of 'mindless vandals' after a planter display was destroyed in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A planter, containing a beautiful array of colour and flowers was pushed over and into the road in Dursley Centre at around 3.30am.

CCTV showed a group of 'mindless vandals' walk past the planter and then return to push it over.

The planter had been placed there by the volunteers at Dursley in Bloom ahead of judgement day for the In Bloom awards early next month.

Dursley Town Council released a photo of the group involved and asked for any information to be reported to them.

"Sadly and not for the first time this summer the planters in the town centre have been targeted by mindless vandals," a spokesperson said.

"The planters are sponsored by a number of organisations with the plants supplied by volunteers and the Dursley in Bloom group who put in so much effort for our town to look its best throughout the year.

"Sunday's incident saw five individuals tip one of the large "chest" style planters over and the Town Council and Police would request any assistance in identifying the culprits.

"It happened at 3:20am on Sunday 2nd June 2019."
