Firefighters took a little break from their usual days work to help wash the cars of Yate for charity.

On Saturday, June 8, staff from Yate Fire Station filled their buckets with soapy water and welcomed motorists for a special car wash.

The Avon Fire and Rescue Chief Mick Crennell was there to help out as well.

The event was in a bid to raise money for two charities, Cancer Research UK and the FireFighters Charity that works at helping those that have been injured or harmed on duty.

The group were washing from 10am until 4pm and posted the total raised on their official Twitter page, thanking people for showing their support.

They raised £1084.44.
