A THORNBURY tea room has celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The over 60s tea room in Thornbury town hall has been open since June 1994.
Thornbury town councillor Clare Fardell opened it on the first day the newly-renovated town hall was opened to the public.
Since then it has been open every weekday from 10am-4pm, other than on bank holidays and a week over Christmas.
To celebrate the occasion Cllr Fardell was joined by chairman of the tea room committee, Julie Hughes, who cut a birthday cake.
Also present were the committee’s first chairman Margaret Woodford and another former chairman, Ann Keates, as well as treasurer Linda Peers.
Clare Fardell thanked all the volunteers who have enabled the Tea Room to run so smoothly over the years. “I also thank our many customers,” she said. “They are so friendly and welcoming.
“They make the tea room a very happy place where people can meet their friends and also make new ones.”
