Star turn Annie Testar enhanced her growing reputation by beating GB legend Hannah England and obliterating the 800m Gloucestershire Schools' Championship record by more than six seconds.

Testar, 17, who is coached by Chris Brown and runs for Stroud AC certainly put her marker down at the Prince of Wales stadium by winning the U19 title in impressive fashion.

It capped a memorable week for the Stroud teenager, who also defeated veteran Hannah England at Birmingham University, the 2011 World Championship silver medallist and 2012 Olympic Games participant.

Brown said: "After a fast start, Annie sensibly settled at the back of the group and only made her move to get into contention at 500m at which point she got boxed and was slowed, only getting free in the home straight, coming from behind she kicked a hard as she could for home, such was her closing speed that the senior ladies were unable to hold her off as Annie took the victory in a new personal best time."

Last month she recorded the fastest U18 time in Europe for the 800m and is the U17 the reigning English schools 800m champion.

With a number of Stroud junior middle distance athletes not available a small squad coached by Brown, who had qualified for the county championships through the district schools raced in two-year age groups of U15, U17, U19, with great success at Cheltenham.
