AS ever, my time as your MP is divided between Stroud constituency and Westminster and I’m usually in the House of Commons from Monday to Thursday before heading back for the weekend.

I’ll try to give you a snapshot of my working week.

As well as being your MP, I’m also a Shadow Minister for the Environment, food and rural affairs so that tends to be a focus of much of my work and on Monday I was also part of a parliamentary group looking at greener farming after Brexit.

While the government is in limbo following Theresa May’s resignation, parliament continues with a lot of behind-the-scenes work.

I began my week with meetings in Parliament to support Carers Week, followed by a debate calling for fairer funding of drugs to treat cystic fibrosis as well as meetings on pancreatic cancer, the crisis in Sudan, ending sexual violence in conflicts, as well as to discuss the future of waste disposal and energy production.

I spoke in a debate about housebuilding and how to fairly manage targets for new homes on Tuesday and returned to housing as an issue on Thursday when we held an important debate on social housing.

There is no doubt that housing is the biggest issue that constituents bring to my office, and more council housing and social housing is undoubtedly the answer.

I set up a parliamentary group to look at supporting more council housing and continue to champion this.

On Friday I was at the Three Counties Show meeting with the NFU and speaking on the panel about how to support farmers and the environment.

This weekend I’ll be at Staverton Airport looking at aerospace initiatives in the county.
