The leader of Stroud District Council has hit out at the decision to reject plans for Forest Green Rovers' new stadium.

Doina Cornell revealed her thoughts in her weekly column.

She said: "I was disappointed with the way the vote went against the recommendation.

"I think it’s important to see the bigger picture – the new development would have contributed to the whole district in so many ways."

Stroud District Council's development control committee voted against plans for the 5,000 capacity football stadium or land near junction 13 of the M5.

The chairman of FGR, Ecotricity boss Dale Vince, has since announced his intention to

appeal

the decision.
