A man has been charged after a fisherman was said to have been thrown into a Cirencester lake in what police branded a 'frightening attack'.
A 35-year-old Cirencester man has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and causing criminal damage to the victims phone and fishing rod.
The man has been released on bail and will appear in court on August 1.
Under his bail conditions, he is not allowed to enter the Abbey Grounds, where the incident is alleged to have happened.
He is also not allowed to contact the victim.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 305 of June 18.
