A DURSLEY man is set to run 100km later this month in aid of the Great Western Air Ambulance.

Andrew Eades, who is a member of Dursley Running Club, will be taking part in the Cotswold Way Challenge on June 29 and 30 to raise money for the charity.

Andrew, a machine tool engineer, said: “I’ve done marathons before, but this will be the furthest that I’ve ever run. It’s about 63 miles.

“You can do it over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and camp half way, which is by KLB School in Wotton.

“Or you can try and do in 24 hours, which is what I’m going to do.

“The route runs from Bath to Cheltenham, and it’s up and down hills, through woods, across fields.

“I’ll wear a head torch when it’s dark, and the way will be lit with large glow sticks too.”

Andrew decided to support the air ambulance after a Cam and Dursley supporters group for the charity was set up in January.

The group launched at the Old Spot in Dursley, which is run by Andrew’s sister, Jo Lewis. The pub has now become a hub for the supporters’ group, and hosts regular charity events.

“It’s a fantastic cause,” he said.

“The air ambulance provides critical care in the air, delivering highly specialised medical support not available in normal ambulances and gets to patients and back to hospital quickly.

“The charity relies on donations for its funding.”
