Residents in Yate have been told to be vigilant after there were reports of an individual knocking on residents doors impersonating a council officer.
Yate Town Council issued an official warning to residents in the area on their Facebook page, in which they reminded people to be cautious.
“Yate Town Council has been made aware that a person has been knocking on residents’ doors claiming to work for the Town Council and would like to talk about works which can be done on your house,” it read.
“Please note that nobody from Yate Town Council has or would go knocking door to door regarding works which can be done to your property.
“We believe that this is a scam and ask that you remain vigilant. We have reported this to the appropriate agencies.”
