Members of a playgroup in Oldbury-on-Severn have been celebrating their 30th birthday.

Staff, parents and pupils of Oldbury Busy Bees Playgroup came together on Saturday to mark the occasion with a picnic in the park.

More than 50 people attended the celebration and enjoyed party games, a bouncy castle and cake.

Denise Young, Busy Bees manager, has worked in this role at the pre-school for nearly 10 years, although she has been involved with the playgroup since it's very early days, alongside her deputy Lisa Riddle.

Lisa said: “It was wonderful to see the past generations of Busy Bee" children, some with their own children who are now attending Busy Bees, come back to celebrate with us!

"It was great to reminisce of times gone by with past and present parents.

"Quite a lot has changed over the years but we still make great use of the surrounding countryside, taking walks through the village and along the river bank.”

Denise was unable to attend the celebrations due to illness but said: “I am so very sorry that I couldn't come as I had really been looking forward to seeing everyone.

"Thank you all for coming and thank you to Lisa for stepping up for me and the committee members for organising things.

"Perhaps we should do it all again in another 30 years!”

Oldbury Busy Bees Playgroup was founded in 1989 and was originally situated in Oldbury Memorial Hall, before moving to The Pavilion on Westmarsh Lane in 2011.

The pre-school and playgroup is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am-3pm in term time and welcomes children aged 2-4 years.
