An all inclusive Boccia club based in Yate is celebrating after receiving funding from a supermarket in the area.

GEM Boccia Club was started two years ago by Georgina Moore after she struggled to find a sport that could accomodate her because of her sever physical disability.

The group runs in Yate Leisure Centre and regularly provides opportunity for around 15 disadvantaged participants from the community.

They recently received a donation of £750 from Sodbury's Waitrose store.

Shirley Carmichael, the Community Matters Champion at the school attended a session at the leisure centre along with Store Manager Chris White, Tom Milton, Louise Ford and Mark Lewington.

She said: "It was an absolute pleasure to present this cheque for £750 to such a lovely group who offer fun and support to a group of adults and young people who would not otherwise be able to participate.

"Since our store opened just over 5 years ago we have donated nearly £70,000 to good causes. It is important to our Partners to participate in our community so it was great to see."

The team from Waitrose were Chris White ( store manager ) Tom Milton, Louise Ford, Mark Lewington and me, Shirley Carmichael. My Title is Community Matters Champion if they want to use that for who the quote has come from.

Since our Chipping Sodbury Store opened just over 5 years ago we have donated nearly £70,000 to local good causes. It is important to our Partners to participate in our local community so it was great to see it in action."
