Yate Town Council have announced that the Yate Outdoor Sports Complex (YOSC) £850,000 revamp is finally ready.

The facility is now open for business and although it is not completely finished is ready to be used.

Construction fences have been removed and athletes can now resume training at the enhanced facilities.

YOSC is now run by YOSC Ltd with support from Yate Town Council and will look to play a big role in the community for years to come.

Councillor Chris Willmore, Chair of the Project Steering Group said: “We are delighted that local athletes now have access to a completely upgraded facility that will last another 25 years, and give all athletes access to these international quality facilities.”

The first community event that took place at the track was the annual Relay for Life, taking place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2019.

In August a Guinness World Record Attempt will be taking place at YOSC. The event will be held on the athletics track, with a relay of 105 people covering the marathon distance of 42,195m, combined with target sprint shooting.
