A water main has burst on Wickwar Road for the second time this year.

The road, in Chipping Sodbury, has been closed whilst crews from Bristol Water work to deal with the problem.

It is not yet known how serious the issue is but Bristol Water posted on Facebook: "We are aware of the burst on Wickwar Road in Chipping Sodbury, we have a crew working hard on site to get it fixed so please bear with us - I'll be updating you throughout the morning."

An update on the situation at around midday said: "The crew have confirmed that this will be a fairly significant repair and will need to carry out a cut out (which means they're going to replace a part of the pipe).

"Because of this, you might be out of water until late this afternoon but I will be keeping you updated as we get more news in from the site. Thank you and I'm sorry about this."

This follows on from the burst on the road in February earlier this year. On that occasion the road was closed for around five days.
