MP for Thornbury and Yate Luke Hall has refused to be drawn on who he is supporting in the Conservative Party leadership contest.

When asked by the Gazette who he would be backing in the race, Mr Hall's team confirmed that due to his position as a Vice Chairman of the Party he was under a number of restrictions.

This includes preventing the MP from publicly backing Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt.

Mr Hall also hs a role in the organisation and oversight of the contest itself.

His team did confirm that he is happy to discuss after the contest has finished.

The next leader and subsequent Prime Minister of the country will be decided officially on July 23.

Current candidates Hunt and Johnson continue to campaign until then.
