Yate Town Council have confirmed that the astro turf at the recently redeveloped Yate Outdoor Sports Complex is now under refurbishment.
The work started earlier this month, coinciding with the official opening of the running track.
The news was announced on the council's official Facebook page, they said: "Following on from the track and athletics refurbishment and enhancement project, work has begun onsite to replace the AstroTurf facility.
"Yate Town Council has raised funds through Sport England, Ibstock & Entrust Communities and Suez Landfill Community Trust to replace the AstroTurf and to upgrade the current pitch to competitive standard.
"The works will take place during the summer holiday period and are due to be completed by the end of August 2019."
The YOSC is a multi-sport site.
It includes an athletics track, grass pitches and a sand-based AstroTurf pitch adjacent to Brimsham School in North Yate.
There will be a Guinness World Record attempt at the track next month, organised by the Mayor.
