A fundraiser to support Marlwood School has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

Marlwood Rocks was going to be held at the school on September 7.

Organised by #WeAreMarlwood, a group set to up to help the school shortly after its appearance on BBC documentary School, the event was set to include live music, a casino and a silent auction. Heart FM's Paris Troy has been signed up to host the evening.

Writing on Facebook one of the organisers, Katie Thornell, said: "It is with great sadness and after much deliberation we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Marlwood Rocks event on 7th September due to low ticket sales.

"This means the amount of profit for the school is too low to make the event viable and with only a month to go we feel it is the right thing to cancel now."
