All students at Chipping Sodbury School received an offer from their first choice university after they picked up their results on Thursday morning.

A-Level results day can be a traumatic time for some, but it was all smiles at Sodbury as they celebrated a number of high grades.

Ms Katherine Turner, headteacher at Chipping Sodbury School revealed her delight that the students had made the next step.

"Most of our students are now on to the next step," she said.

"The grades are good and I am so proud of all the students for what they have achieved.

"Well done to them and well done to all of their families for the support."

One student that thanked staff at the school for their support was Scarlett Haas, who is going to the University of Lincoln to study Physical Education and Sport.

"I wouldn't have been able to get the grades that I did if I didn't have the support of the staff at the school," she said.

"They have been brilliant and without them I definitely wouldn't be here with these grades.

"I have had a lot of support from inclusion as well so everyone has helped."

Another special mention must go to Sophie Greenslade who achieved a Grade 8 Distinction in her Flute examinations in April, she picked up her certificate today.

"I started flute lessons when I joined Sodbury School," she explained.

"I am taking a bit of time out to decide what I would like to do in the future and whether I want to go to university, but it would be nice to do something with music in the future."

Ms Turner finished by saying: "Students have been able to study a wide combination of subjects at CEDGE, and the results today show that students have really benefitted from our diverse curriculum which includes the Extended Project Qualification, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and more.

"I am so proud of all the students and staff, as well as all the supportive parents."
