A STROUD motorist accused of drink driving and having no insurance has denied the charges and is to stand trial at Cheltenham Magistrates court in November.
William Stock, 43, of Parliament Street, appeared before the magistrates today to face the charges.
Prosecuting lawyer Sonia Alford alleged “At 11pm on August 3 the defendant was seen by police driving a BMW at excessive speed on Cainscross Road, Stroud.”
He seemed nervous when stopped and told police that he had had a few drinks earlier, she alleged.
“He said to police ‘this is all my dad’s fault – I should be over’ and when he was breathalysed the lowest reading was 44 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms,” said Ms Alford.
Defending lawyer Joseph Carr said: “My client does not accept the reading considering his alcohol consumption that day.
“We will be appointing an expert.”
An estimated two-hour trial was listed for November 11 and Stock was granted unconditional bail.
