A young deer has been killed after being hit by a car near Thornbury.
Rowe Vet Group were called to Thornbury Hill on Monday morning after members discovered the injured creature.
Sadly, nothing could be done to save the animal's life.
Writing about the incident on Facebook Rowe Vet Group thanked those who tried to help.
"We really appreciate the kindness you gave in trying to keep the deer calm whilst we travelled to help, and the bravery you showed on the busy road.
"Although the ending to the story was very sad, without you the poor deer would have suffered for longer unnecessarily.
"There are clearly lots of wildlife in and around the town of Thornbury, so would like to take this opportunity to ask all road users to slow down and be aware of what could run out in front of them at any time," they said.
