Egypt Mill has thanked firefighters after they acted quickly to to put out a fire yesterday.

Firefighters tackled a blaze at the popular Egypt Mill Hotel in Nailsworth last night.

The fire took place at around 7pm, with a post in a group on social media confirming that crews were in attendance.

There is a Gloucestershire Fire Station just metres away from Egypt Mill.

The fire is believed to have started in a shelter outside, where the venue has ovens and fires to cook food.

It came just hours after Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Services warned residents to be vigilant in the hot weather.

Nobody was injured in the fire.

Egypt Mill posted on their Facebook page: "We are relieved to say that the damage caused by the fire was isolated to the roof over the outdoor kitchen and did not spread to the Ironworks or The Mill.

"We would like to express our thanks to the Fire Service for their assistance and for the patience of Nailsworth residents due to the closure of the road.

"We are pleased to say that no one was injured during the fire, and that we will be open as usual on Bank Holiday Monday, so you can still join us for food and drinks in The Mill.

"Thank you for all of the concern shown by our amazing customers on social media, we will keep you updated when we know more details."
