Ashley and Lorraine Fudge

Ashley and Lorraine Fudge were nominated by Linda Carter, who won Volunteer of the Year at last year’s Pride of the Cotswolds awards.

Linda said: “Since my husband died Ashley and Lorraine have been very kind and helpful to me.

“They are always on hand if I need a shoulder to cry on. They are just the best neighbours anyone could hope for. I know I could call on them anytime day or night.”

Ashley and Lorraine said: “We’re surprised, delighted and most of all humbled to be not only nominated but shortlisted.

“Being good neighbours comes easy as we class our neighbours as our friends, first and foremost.”

Pauline Farman

Pauline is a familiar face in Bagendon, North Cerney and Cirencester.

Whether it is litter picking, gardening or raising money for charity, she is always doing something to improve her surroundings.

The person who nominated her said: “Pauline has been doing good deeds without thinking for so long I think people take her for granted sometimes.”

Pauline said: “I am amazed and very humbled at being shortlisted for this award. Thank you to whoever put my name forward.

“Community care is essential for the wellbeing of us all and our beautiful, but fragile environment.”

David and Dawn Elsdon

David and Dawn provide a lifeline for their neighbours in Cam.

The organise transport for people who need to get to hospital or other appointments, finding volunteer drivers to ensure they make it.

They have been nominated by one of the people they have helped.

“What they’ve done for me alone is amazing,” they said.

“Many of their neighbours would have great difficulty in getting some of the appointments.

“Bus transport is often impossible and if you are disabled, for example, even more difficult.

I can’t describe to you to immense help they are providing for the locals.”
