Classrooms at the Castle School have been given a makeover thanks to two dads.

Michael Nisbet and Justin Warr replaced all the broken cupboards and drawers in the school's two cookery classrooms.

They fixed or replaced more than 20 drawers in total, also fixing cupboard doors as part of their work on behalf of Castle School Friends.

Justin said: "It's great that the cookery classrooms now have properly fitted kitchens for the start of the school year.

"Here's hoping the school will produce some Great British Bake Off stars of the future!"

Castle School Friends are holding their next DIY day from 9.30am until 3pm on Saturday.

Anyone who can spare an hour or two to help with gardening, painting or litter-picking should email enquiries@castleschoolfriends.org or send a message to the Castle School Friends Facebook page.

You don't need to have a child at the school to get involved.

The group is also hosting a quiz night at 7.30pm on Friday, September 20.

Tickets cost £5 and are available from the Castle School reception. The quiz is for teams of four and over-18s only.
