Yate Town Council have announced the new refurbishment of the astro turf at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex has been completed.

A spokesperson for the council said: "We are delighted with the newly refurbished and upgraded pitch which is now back in use, bringing the facility to a competitive standard.

"The works were finished, as planned, during the summer holiday period ready for the autumn schedule of hockey tournaments and school activity."

Yate Town Council raised funds for the refurbishment project through Sport England, Ibstock & Entrust Communities and Suez Landfill Community Trust.

Councillor Karl Tomasin, Chair of Yate Town Council commented: "As part of our continuing commitment to maintain, enhance and invest in our local facilities, the resurfacing of the all-weather pitch has now been completed. It's a fantastic looking new surface.

"I hope that our many users will be looking forward to the opportunity to play on, enjoy and experience it now and for many, many years to come."

Cabinet Member for Planning, Transport and the Strategic Environment Cllr Steve Reade said: “South Gloucestershire Council has continued to support the fantastic sports facilities at YOSC since they passed into community hands at the end of 2015. The facilities are well used and enjoyed for physical activities by residents, local sports groups and school children alike.

“Our total contribution to date is over £1,100,000, which includes funding the resurfacing of the running track and drainage improvements on the grass pitches.”

YOSC is situated right next to Brimsham Green School.
