Coaley produce show returned on Saturday. Here is chair of the show Marion McDowell's report.
There were lots of entries this year – over 520 entries by 77 entrants so the hall looked great with every surface covered with fruit, vegetables, flowers and Arts and crafts, cooking and photography.
There were lots of beautiful flower arrangements this year with the theme “Japan” proving most popular.
Lemon drizzle cakes and treacle tarts and banana loaf were favourites of the bakers of the village.
The range of photos on the theme of “ A visitor to my garden” showed we have some very talented wildlife photographers, with 30 entries ranging from butterflies to badgers.
We had lovely colourful pictures of “my favourite place “ and flower pictures by Coaley school children. There were cute playdoh models by the youngest children and chocolate apples with decorations and flowers in a jam jar.
One of our all time great show entrants Mrs Florrie Curson sadly died this year. Her family kindly donated a new cup – The Florrie Curson Dahlia Cup in her memory. It was won by Fiona Porter who had grown some very spectacular blooms.
