South Gloucestershire Council have confirmed that an individual was caught not picking up after their dog at The Ridings Playing Fields in Chipping Sodbury.
It comes after the organisation that looks after the playing fields, the Chipping Sodbury Town Trust, announced plans to help tackle the issue.
The council confirmed that earlier this year a man was charged and issued a Fixed Penalty Notice.
A council spokesperson said: "In February 2019 we issued a Fixed Penalty Notice to a dog walker exercising his dog at The Ridings Playing Fields, for failing to clear up after his dog."
A fixed penalty notice for dog fouling is £100, reduced to £75 for quick payment.
The trust have now adopted the Green Dog Walkers Scheme in the hope of preventing further issues with dog mess at the Ridings.
They will be holding a stall and talking to residents and dog walkers on Saturday, September 21 from 9am until 1pm.
