Kenneth Burlison, 52, of The Bassetts, Cainscross, has been given a suspended jail sentence for assault.

He threatened a police officer with a knife in Stroud on July 1.

Burlison pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 29.

His sentence will come into force if he fails to complete a rehabilitation activity as directed by the court.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £200.

Seven Extinction Rebellion protesters have pleaded not guilty to causing criminal damage when they appeared at City of London Magistrates Court.

The group, six of whom are from Stroud, caused £25,000 worth of damage when they glued themselves to Shell's headquarters in London.

Carpenter James Saunders, 40, grave digger Simon Bramwell, 47, business owner Katerina Hasapopoulos, 41, carer Jane Augsburger, 54, retired teacher Senan Clifford, 58, salesman Ian Bray, 52 and landscape consultant David Lambert, 60, were bailed to appear at Southwark Crown Court on October 4.

Colin Law of Little Lypiatt, near Stroud, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates court to driving with excess alcohol on his breath.

The 38-year-old estate gardener was rushing to the aid of his employer after a 'serious incident' when he was confronted by the police.

He had 106 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

Magistrates banned Law from driving for 40 months, fined him £417 and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85.

David Smith of George Pearce House,The Glebe, Minchinhampton pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates court on September 11 to driving with excess alcohol.

After he hit a parked car in Stroud a police station breath test revealed that he had 107 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The defendant was granted unconditional bail until he is sentenced on September 30.

Jack Knowler, 19, of Cotswold View, Wickwar, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates court on September 12 to driving with a controlled drug – cannabis – above the specified limit in his body.

He was stopped by police after they spotted a car driving without its headlights on in the early hours of March 22.

Magistrates banned Knowler from driving for 12 months, fined him £120 and ordered him to pay £85 prosecution costs.

Kathleen Shiel, of Commonhill, Cricklade, has been sentenced to 11 weeks imprisonment.

The 33-year-old admitted four shoplifting offences and breaching the terms of post-sentence supervision and community orders.

She was jailed despite being pregnant and just 10 weeks off her due date.

Jamie Keeley, 33, of Skyfall House, Birdlip, pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 29.

He was stopped in his car on the M5 southbound on May 18 this year.

The court heard how Keeley was found to have 52 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Keeley was banned from driving for 38 months and ordered to pay costs of £502.

Shane Hayward, 35, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates court to causing criminal damage to a police car on August 25th.

The court heard he was looking for shelter for his dog, lost his temper in the early hours of the morning in Moreton-in-Marsh, and lashed out at the car.

Magistrates fined him £40 and ordered him to pay £50 compensation.

Nicholas Cook of Market Place, Tetbury, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on September 11 to drink-driving and driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.

Cook also admitted that by committing the offences in Sheep Street, Cirencester on August 11 he was in breach of a suspended sentence order.

He also admitted failing to attend for unpaid work sessions on June 30 and July 21.

A station breath test revealed that Cook had 85 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates jailed him for a total of 12 weeks and banned him from driving for four years.
