SUGGESTIONS for what could replace a dilapidated children’s maze are being sought by a councillor.

The wooden poles that make up the maze in Beggarwood Park are becoming loose and falling over, according to Cllr Dan Putty.

He says that the rotting is causing the maze to be unsafe.

“If someone else is running there, they are going to get hurt,” he said.

“It has come to the time when we have to look at alternatives.

“I don’t want to put something from my own position, I want the residents to be involved.”

The park, which already has a play area for children, as well as outdoor gym equipment, a woodland trail and an amphitheatre, is an “oasis” to people in the area, according to Cllr Putty.

“I will work with the officers and see if we can achieve it,” he told the Gazette.

Cllr Putty has expressed a desire to see a skateboard park as well as a play area for smaller children, but ultimately would like people who live in the area to tell him what they would like to see.
