Three young Thornbury boys have carried out community work at the allotments where they were caught stealing tools.
The boys, aged 11 and 12, were spotted at Daggs Allotments last month. They wanted to tools to make a den.
One of the boys admitted his part in the incident to his mother. She then called the police with the names of those involved.
PC Paula Manos, Thornbury beat manager, then arranged the boys to work at the allotment on Saturday as punishment.
She said: "Three plots had been marked for them to dig and clear. The boys worked so so hard and even in the heat did not complain.
"Between them they asked if they could actually have a plot of their own. At this time it has been agreed that they will return to volunteer.
"Both myself and PCSO Sheryl Dewitt also helped out."
